Every morning for the past eight months, the first thing I do is weigh 5 grams of tea, admiring the gentle scene on the packaging, of my aged white organic tea. This is made so easy with the small wooden scales sold by Chi ki Cha, how they tip perfectly into the holder of my thermos. When my husband get up, he boils the water and fills our thermos for breakfast. We linger longer over our breakfast now, savoring the delicious taste of our tea, and not a morning goes past, without me saying, “God I love this tea.” Something about the taste and the soothing nature of it, knowing it is organic and having read on Google just how good it is for us. After breakfast we refill the thermos with boiled water ready for our morning tea and then, we refill again, ready for our afternoon main meal.
After three refills the tea doesn’t lose its flavor or become bitter. The trick is refilling the thermos to keep it hot.
However, there is something more subtle that is hard for me to explain. Using the thermos seems to have simplified our life. We only drink tea and water now, my husband has given up his morning coffee. We only drink the tea with our meals and the joy of it has created a ritual for us.
It also saves us time and energy, we don’t need to go down that aisle in the supermarket or Health food store. We take our thermos for days out and that saves us money. It’s all very easy.
So thankyou Niuniu and David for sourcing this delicious tea from your family in China and bringing it into our life.
How wonderful it is to be hooked on something that is good for us.
